August 2024 Update - More about us

A brief introduction...

Chromium formed as a company in 2017, and initially started to work with financial investors and start-up businesses. As time has gone on, we have focused more on our work in the education sector, offering both internal scrutiny services and ad hoc support to schools and academy trusts.

In the 2024/25 academic year we will be working with 13 different schools and academies, and discussions are in progress to increase this number still further. Internal Scrutiny is charged on a per report basis, along with a small charge for mileage to cover travel costs. A summary of the reports is provided at the end of the year for no additional charge.

In terms of ad hoc support, we will charge on an hourly or daily basis depending on the complexity of work to be undertaken. If we can complete the task in 90 minutes, then we will only charge 90 minutes. As an example, we have assisted schools to review their insurance offering, but we have also undertaken larger pieces of work such as system implementation and due diligence for schools joining a MAT.

Sponsorship

We first sponsored a player in the Kilmarnock Women’s team in 2018, and this year marks our seventh consecutive year of being involved. We now sponsor three players (Abby Robinson, Dionne Brown and Lauryn Reside) at Kilmarnock with both Abby and Dionne winning Player of the Season during our sponsorship tenure.

Although we make regular trips to Ayrshire (and we are keen to undertake work there), the business is based in Luton and this season we are also sponsoring Tash Fensome at the Luton Town Ladies team. Tash has recently signed for Luton from Real Bedford, although she will be familiar with the team as this is her second spell at the club.

Both Kilmarnock and Luton are pushing for promotion this season and we will be keeping a keen eye on both. Hopefully we will see some of you at this season’s games.

Charity

Each year we donate to Crisis, and to EACHa. Both charities deal with homelessness, but with the aim of helping the individual concerned get back to being independent. We usually make our donation around Christmas time as this is the time of year when it is most challenging for those who do not have a roof over their head or a family to stay with. The challenge is both physical and emotional, but both charities make a big difference.
