Ian's father was born in Crookedholm on the outskirts of Kilmarnock. Ian was born in England but was the only boy in his class with a Scotland football shirt, watch and school bag! His father passed away in 2010 and when he set up his own business he decided he would pay tribute by sponsoring a couple of Killie players. To date Chromium have sponsored Lauren Kerr, Clare Doherty and Vicki Chung for the Killie Womens team, and Chris Burke's away shirt for the Killie mens team between 2018 and 2020. Lauren is now at Queens Park but her sponsorship has been renewed while an announcement about Killie sponsorship will follow in the weeks ahead. Ian is a member of the Killie Trust, and both he and his business currently have a flag at Rugby Park.
Lauren Kerr is a regular in midfield for Queens Park who have got off to a great start in SWPL2 winning four of their first seven matches and scoring fourteen goals along the way. This year represents the third season that Chromium have sponsored Lauren and it's been great to see her fit again after being injured at the start of 2020. The last time Ian from Chromium saw her play she scored two goals so we hope she repeats that feat next time he is in the stands!
The Killie ladies team have faced a challenging start to the season after missing their first game due to Coronavirus while the following weeks have seen them play with several players out. They have strengthened their squad in recent weeks and look to have turned a corner with their win on Sunday against Glasgow Women.
The 2020 season kicked off in February but was soon abandoned due to Coronavirus. At that point Chromium were the sponsor to Vicki Chung who also plays for the Hong Kong national team. Further announcements about 2020 / 21 sponsorship will follow in due course.
